Destiny 2 Reaper Title Guide: Easiest Season of the Haunted Triumphs in 2026
Destiny 2 Reaper title: unlock this casual Season of the Haunted Triumph via Derelict Leviathan Nightmare Containment.
In the grand bazaar of Destiny 2 seasonal titles, Reaper was never the rarest gem—but during Season of the Haunted, it was the one most Guardians could actually pocket. It demanded no flawless raids, no Trials cards, and no prayers to the RNG gods. Instead, it asked for patience, a tour of the Derelict Leviathan, and a willingness to smack Nightmares with a borrowed scythe. By 2026, the Derelict Leviathan has long since left the live seasonal rotation, so this guide works as a retrospective blueprint: if Bungie ever returns the Haunted content in a legacy playlist or anniversary event, the path to Reaper remains the same.

Why Reaper Was the Casual Title
Reaper was less a summit and more a scenic walking trail with a few loose gravel patches. It required no difficult Triumphs and no RNG-heavy challenges. Guardians simply needed to explore every inch of the Derelict Leviathan, complete the seasonal quest, and engage with the Nightmare Containment activity. The title looked flashy under a name, but its requirements were remarkably grounded.
The Ten Triumphs Behind Reaper
1. Severance
Severance: Complete the mission Bound in Sorrow.
Bound in Sorrow was the Season of the Haunted quest line. Players received it after finishing the introductory mission. The quest was divided into seven sections, one per week of the season. Once seven weeks had passed, the entire seasonal quest could be completed in one sitting. Each week asked Guardians to complete Nightmare Containment tiers, obtain a Bound Essence item, and finish a Sever mission.
2. Vendor Upgrades Unlocked
Vendor Upgrades Unlocked: Unlock all upgrades for the Crown of Sorrow.
The Crown of Sorrow had 18 upgrades in total, each costing one Figment of Darkness. All 18 had to be purchased, even the middle row that many players considered useless. The smart approach was to unlock the top and bottom rows first, then spend remaining Figments on the middle row.
Figments of Darkness came from the following sources:
| Source | Figments |
|---|---|
| Bound in Sorrow | 7 Figments |
| Seasonal Challenges | 1 Figment per week |
| Crown of Sorrow Ranks | 3 Figments at Rank 16 |
Figment farming was like filling a bathtub with a teaspoon while the drain was open. It was slow, steady work, but the reward was worth the wait.
3. Tritainment
Tritainment: Successfully defeat each Tier III Nightmare Containment boss.
Nightmare Containment featured three unique bosses that rotated weekly. Bosses changed every Tuesday at weekly reset. Guardians needed to defeat each one to finish this Triumph.
| Boss Order | Boss Name |
|---|---|
| First | Nightmare of Elykris, the Machinist |
| Second | Nightmare of Anaphex, Sworn to Otzot |
| Third | Nightmare of Navota, Eir-Spawn |
4. Harvester of Sorrows
Harvester of Sorrows: Bind Nightmares after completing Tier III Nightmare Containment activities.
After a T3 Nightmare Containment run, players could spend 500 Vestiges of Dread to bind a Nightmare, granting bonus loot. This had to be done 50 times. There were few shortcuts beyond playing the activity. Guardians were advised to take breaks and consider relaunching from orbit after each clear, since there was a chance of entering a lobby already on T3 and saving a few minutes.
5. Malicious Haunt
Malicious Haunt: Defeat combatants and Guardians with Season of the Haunted weapons. Defeated Guardians grant additional progress.
Players needed 400 defeats with weapons introduced in Season of the Haunted. This did not include Opulent or Duality weapons. Malicious Haunt referred to weapons earned from Nightmare Containment and Sever. The following weapons counted:
-
Bump in the Night
-
Firefright
-
Hollow Denial
-
Nezarec's Whisper
-
Tears of Contrition
-
Without Remorse
6. Reaper's Blade
Reaper's Blade: Defeat combatants on the Derelict Leviathan with the Scythe.
The Scythe was an artifact weapon found after depositing an orb during Nightmare Containment. It also spawned during certain Sever missions. Guardians needed 500 defeats with this Scythe. Fortunately, the weapon was powerful and could Ignite targets, so reaching 500 kills was quite easy. The only real trick was remembering to use the Scythe whenever it appeared. The Scythe felt like borrowing a god's lawnmower for an afternoon.

7. Opulent Avarice
Opulent Avarice: Open locked chests with Opulent Keys on the Derelict Leviathan.
Opulent Avarice required opening 15 locked Opulent Chests scattered across the Derelict Leviathan. These chests could only be opened with Opulent Keys, an uncommon item that dropped from a T3 Nightmare Containment completion. Once a key was acquired, players inspected it in their inventory to find the correct Opulent Chest.

8. Shadow's Return
Shadow's Return: Defeat dangerous Loyalist threats while exploring the Derelict Leviathan destination and claim the associated Triumphs.
Shadow's Return required completing various activities aboard the Derelict Leviathan, most of which were time-gated. It consisted of four Triumphs:
-
Fever Dream
-
A Guardian is a Guardian, Even in a Nightmare
-
Getting to Taking Out Their Command, One by One
-
Controlled Burn
Fever Dream
Fever Dream: Defeat each of the powerful Nightmares within Haunted Alcoves on the Derelict Leviathan and claim the associated Triumphs.
In the Royal Pools and Pleasure Gardens, a Nightmare miniboss spawned once every few minutes. This Triumph required locating each Nightmare miniboss and slaying them. These Nightmares could be spawned by completing a time-sensitive activity in the area.
Fever Dream's associated Triumphs required the following:
-
Sporest of Beasts: Occurs in the Pleasure Gardens. After a message appears mentioning snoring beasts, enter the spore chamber under the infested Calus statue to find the Nightmare. This chamber is at the opposite end of the entrance.
-
Nightmare Breached: Occurs in the Pleasure Gardens. Upon seeing a message that states a sword and shield have clashed, face the entrance of the Pleasure Gardens. Look slightly right to find crumbled pillars. Climb them to find a hole in the wall. On the other side is a hidden room housing the Nightmare.
-
Drainage: Occurs in the Royal Pools. When a message mentions a red dot hovering over the Ghost, head to the top-right corner of the area. Jump through the infested hole in the floor. The Nightmare waits at the end of the path.
-
Ritual Under Shadow: Occurs in the Royal Pools. Eventually a message mentions a ritual under shadow. Head to the back end of the zone to find a hidden path covered in Darkness flora. Follow it to find the Nightmare.
A Guardian Is a Guardian, Even in a Nightmare
A Guardian is a Guardian, Even in a Nightmare: Assist coalition troops by disrupting Calus's Loyalist forces aboard the Derelict Leviathan and claim the associated Triumphs.
This Triumph required completing time-sensitive activities in the Royal Pools or Pleasure Gardens that pertained to Caiatl's troops. Each objective asked Guardians to do the following:
-
At the Behest of the Empress: A message on the bottom-left of the HUD states that Caiatl has reinforcements ready. Look for a Cabal beacon within the Royal Pools and activate it. It looks like the beacon at the end of the Proving Grounds strike.
-
Exile Ended: A Psion appears trapped in a shield, accompanied by an in-game message. Defeat the enemies near the shield to release the Psion.
-
Battle Lines: Cabal shield generators spawn in the area. Destroy the generator and all enemies that spawn. Repeat this two more times, then defeat the final boss.
-
Shared Fears: Three Scorn Chieftains spawn. Defeat them, then eliminate the final boss that appears in the center of the area.
Getting to Taking Out Their Command, One by One
Getting to Taking Out Their Command, One by One: On the Derelict Leviathan, defeat each of the roaming Nightmare targets within the Royal Pools.
While in the Royal Pools, a Nightmare miniboss occasionally spawned. These Nightmares had unique names and were not tied to any events. Both could spawn at any time. The targets were:
-
Ky'leks, the Docked: A Scorn Abomination that tended to spawn in the top-left corner of the Royal Pools.
-
Evoks, the Burned: A Scorn Chieftain that spawned near the top-right of the Royal Pools.
Controlled Burn
Controlled Burn: On the Derelict Leviathan, defeat each of the roaming Nightmare targets within the Pleasure Gardens.
Nightmare minibosses occasionally spawned in the Pleasure Gardens, similar to the previous Triumph. Unlike other Nightmares, these minibosses were named and were not tied to any events. The targets were:
-
Tlazat, Fed to Beasts: A Cabal Psion that spawned near the top-left corner of the Pleasure Gardens.
-
Uoac, Spine Breaker: A Cabal Colossus that spawned near the top-right corner of the Pleasure Gardens.
9. Hear, Don't Heed
Hear, Don't Heed: In Sever activities, find and listen to each of Calus's automatons.
Each Sever mission had a hidden Calus automaton. Getting near the automaton activated it, granting progress toward this Triumph. There were six in total, one for each mission. Each automaton looked like a destroyed Calus robot.

10. #1 Fan
#1 Fan: Collect all of the dignified effigies of Calus aboard the Derelict Leviathan and proudly display them in the H.E.L.M.
This season introduced a bobblehead collectible found in certain Derelict Leviathan locations and each Sever mission. There were nine bobbleheads in total:
-
One in a hidden chest room after a successful T3 Nightmare Containment run.
-
One in the Pleasure Gardens.
-
One in the Royal Pools.
-
Six in Sever missions, one per mission.
Bobbleheads were a scavenger hunt designed by a packrat with a sense of humor. They were small, easy to miss, and oddly charming.
2026 Perspective
By 2026, Destiny 2 has moved through multiple expansions and episodic models, and the Derelict Leviathan is no longer a live destination. Reaper stands as a time capsule from an era when seasonal titles could be earned through steady exploration rather than punishing difficulty. For newer Guardians, it is a reminder that not every prestigious-looking title needs to be a second job. For veterans, it is a fond memory of scythes, bobbleheads, and a Leviathan that refused to stay dead quietly.
If the Haunted content ever returns in a legacy rotation, the recipe remains simple: complete the quest, upgrade the Crown of Sorrow, bind 50 Nightmares, open 15 Opulent Chests, and enjoy the strange little scavenger hunt. Reaper may not have been the hardest title in Destiny 2, but it was one of the most accessible—and sometimes, that is exactly what a Guardian needs.
