King's Fall is not a raid that a fireteam simply wanders into. In 2026, Destiny 2's sandbox has been through The Final Shape, episodes, and countless balance passes, but the Taken King's fortress still punishes sloppy communication. The raid returned in Season of the Plunder, and its bones remain the same: relics, Brands, Torn players, hidden chests, and Oryx waiting at the end. For veterans and newcomers alike, here is how the ritual works now.

What Changed From Destiny 1

King's Fall is a remake, not a photocopy. The Destiny 2 version keeps the original's structure but adds modern raid demands. A few general rules matter from the first encounter to the last:

  • While a player has the Brand Claimer buff, they can hold the interact key to take an ally's Weaver buff. No need to wait for the timer to expire.

  • Only two people need to stand on plates during the final two encounters, down from three.

  • Three Torn players are required to start damage on Daughters and Oryx, up from one.

  • Once a Torn player grabs the Blightguard piece, anyone still standing on plates gets lit on fire until they step off.

  • Inputting an incorrect plate sequence causes every plate to light on fire.

  • Enemy density is significantly higher across all encounters.

That last point is the one that catches older players off guard. The add spawns are not polite. They are a flood, and the fireteam has to treat them like one.

Hall of Souls and the Tomb Ships

The opening is a relay race. Two Hive artifacts sit in front of the fireteam. Split into two teams, assign one orb carrier per side, and escort the relics to the statues in the hallway before the portal. The orbs have timers, so both sides need to dunk at roughly the same time.

Each dunk sends the orb further down the Dreadnaught. The other two players on each side clear adds and destroy Blights that block doorways. Depositing at all six statues opens the portal to a short jumping puzzle.

The Tomb Ship jumping puzzle is a patience test. Ships despawn after a short time, so players jump between vessels as they appear. When a tomb ship starts to crack, it is time to bail. At the second docking bay, two plates must be held to send the ship back. One player stands on each plate, everyone else rides the ship, and then the team regroups. A gravity lift launches the fireteam into the first real encounter.

Totems: Brands, Stacks, and Annihilator Totems

The Totems encounter is about converting enemy life into Deathsinger's Power. Split the team into two groups, one for each side. Each side has a Brand: Brand of the Unraveler on the left, Brand of the Weaver on the right. Killing enemies while Branded grants Deathsinger's Power stacks. The goal is to deposit 200 to 250 stacks into the central plate.

Roles are fluid:

Role Job
Brand Holder Kill enemies to gain Deathsinger's Power. Stand under the Annihilator Totem to prevent a wipe.
Deathsinger Bring stacks to the central plate.
Brand Claimer Kill the Wizard and Blightguard near the middle plate. Take the Brand Holder's buff so they can deposit.

The rhythm is simple once it clicks. A Brand Holder kills adds until they have stacks. A Brand Claimer takes the buff. The old holder deposits stacks at the center. Then the roles swap. The central plate also spawns Unstoppable Ogres when enough stacks have been deposited, so Champion stuns are not optional on Master.

In Destiny 2, transferring a Brand aura requires a pickup. Defeating a Taken Knight near the central plate lets a player transfer a Brand by holding the interact key. Deathsinger's Power comes from kills while affected by a Brand. The stack requirement is higher than in Destiny 1. The old days of quietly killing Thrall are gone.

Warpriest: Glyphs, Auras, and Shadows

Warpriest is a damage check wrapped in a memory game. Split into pairs and assign each pair to one of three plates. Clear adds until the text announces the Glyph reading sequence. The middle pair always reads first. One player stands on the middle plate and looks for the glowing statue on the left or right. If neither is glowing, the middle is the answer.

Once the correct side steps on its plate, that side calls out the next glowing pillar. The last player to step on a plate gains the Brand of the Initiate buff for 20 seconds. Allies near the Brand wielder can damage the Warpriest.

During damage, a Taken Knight called a Blightguard spawns beside one of the plates. Killing it drops a Brand Claimer buff. Do not grab it immediately. The Brand holder counts down. At around three seconds left, another player grabs the Claimer and takes the aura, resetting the damage window. This can be done one more time. When the aura finally expires, the Warpriest floods the arena with light. Anyone caught in it dies. Hide behind a pillar's shadow. That cover is destroyed afterward, so the team loses a safe spot each round.

Destiny 2 changes the old flow: extending damage requires killing a Taken Knight after reading Glyphs. Killing enemies no longer extends Brand of the Initiate. The Warpriest is also much more resistant to staggers, so the team cannot bully him into a corner.

Golgoroth's Maze and Golgoroth

The maze after Warpriest hides a chest if the team stands on five plates in a specific order. The order is bottom right, top left, bottom left, middle left, then top right. The middle left plate is reached by climbing the ceiling. Activating the sequence spawns a chest near the center of the maze.

Golgoroth is an Ogre with a stomach weak point and a gaze mechanic. Clear adds first. Assign two taunters and four damage players. One taunter shoots Golgoroth's back to gain Golgoroth's Gaze for 15 seconds. The Ogre stares at that player and fires Axiom Darts. The taunter must position so the team has a clear shot at the chest.

The damage team shoots the orb in the ceiling to create a Pool of Reclaimed Light. Standing in the pool grants a massive damage bonus against Golgoroth. The second taunter waits behind the Ogre, ready to shoot its back and swap the Gaze before it expires. Only one orb spawns at a time now, and the old Hard Mode Unstable Light mechanic is baked into the encounter. Cursed Thrall have been replaced by Thrall and Knights, which changes add-clearing priorities.

The team gets six orbs per damage phase and four tries before Golgoroth enrages. When the orbs are gone, adds respawn, ammo is collected, and the cycle begins again.

Daughters of Oryx

The Daughters fight is a communication exam. Four plates sit around the arena. Each plate needs a defender. When a plate glows green, a player stands on it. Two things happen: a floating Taken orb appears above one of the four plates, and one random Guardian becomes Torn.

Torn players cannot use weapons or abilities. They must run to the glowing plate, find the Blightguard fragment, and call out which plate the orb is above. No other players should stand on plates at that moment. A second player stands on the called plate to create ethereal platforms. The Torn player jumps across them, grabs the fragment, and is cleansed.

destiny-2-king-s-fall-in-2026-complete-raid-guide-image-5

This repeats until three Torn players have grabbed fragments. The fourth Torn player uses the Aura of Weaving to rend the shield of the Daughter who is attacking the team. That starts damage. Everyone groups near the aura, pops Supers, and burns the Wizard. The aura makes players invincible while active, but flinch still matters, so one player should handle adds during damage.

In Destiny 2, three Torn players are required to start damage instead of one. If anyone stays on a plate after a Torn player grabs the Blightguard, they catch fire. A wrong plate sequence also sets every plate on fire. The encounter is less forgiving than the original.

Oryx, the Taken King

Oryx is the final exam. Clear Taken Knights from every plate and assign defenders. Oryx moves to a plate, slams it, and that plate must be stood on. Standing on the plate causes a random player to become Torn. That player runs to the glowing plate, finds the Blightguard fragment, and calls out the orb's location. Another player stands on the matching plate to create ethereal platforms. Repeat this three times.

Light-Eater Ogres spawn beside each plate. Killing them drops Corrupted Light orbs. Do not detonate them yet. Light-Eater Knights spawn shortly after and try to commune with the orbs. Kill the Knights before they reach the orbs, or the damage window gets shorter. The Vessel of Oryx also spawns near the third fragment. The last Torn player must steal its aura with the restored Blightguard to make it vulnerable.

When Oryx begins his wipe mechanic, each plate defender stands near their Ogre's orb. Detonate the Corrupted Light orbs at the same time, then run to the Aura of Immortality. Everyone else stands in the middle. This prevents the wipe and opens the damage phase. More detonated orbs mean a longer window. Oryx's chest cavity can only be damaged after a Corrupted Light orb is detonated, except during Last Stand.

destiny-2-king-s-fall-in-2026-complete-raid-guide-image-6

After damage, one of two events happens. Oryx may summon a Shade, teleporting random players into a shadow realm with a smaller arena and a much more aggressive Shade. Or he may call a meteor storm, forcing players to dodge AoE indicators for 15 to 20 seconds. At 25 percent health, Oryx enters Last Stand. Two Ogres spawn, and their Corrupted Light orbs plus the Aura of Immortality prevent a wipe. Oryx is vulnerable for the entire Last Stand. Make it count.

Master Difficulty, Rewards, and Challenges

King's Fall has Normal and Master variants. When the raid first returned, Normal was soft cap plus 30 and Master was pinnacle cap plus 20, with 1,600 Power during Season of the Plunder. In 2026, power systems and fireteam power have shifted, so treat those numbers as historical. The philosophy remains: Master is not a mechanics remix. It is a survival and Champion check.

Difficulty Champions Modifiers
Normal Unstoppable None
Master Barrier, Overload, Unstoppable Match Game, Chaff

Master rewards Adept weapons, armor with a weekly stat bias, Enhancement Prisms, and Ascendant Shards. The stat bias rotates weekly and applies even to armor bought from the Spoils chest. Adept weapons do not roll with enhanced perks, but they do take Adept mods and get Adept Masterwork bonuses.

Champion spawns by encounter on Master:

Encounter Champions
Hall of Souls Overload Hobgoblins, Unstoppable Ogres
Totems Unstoppable Ogres
Warpriest Barrier Knights
Golgoroth Barrier Knights
Daughters Barrier Knights
Oryx Overload Hobgoblins

Weekly challenges rotate at reset. The Grass Is Always Greener forbids the same Brand type twice in a row at Totems. Devious Thievery gives five seconds to swap buffs after grabbing a Taken Knight's Buff Claimer at Warpriest. Gaze Amaze requires the Golgoroth's Gaze holder to stand in a Pool of Light when swapping. Under Construction forbids standing on the same plate twice in one phase at Daughters. Hands Off forbids killing the same Ogre or Light-Eater Knight twice at Oryx.

Triumph challenges are stricter. Overzealous at Totems never allows more than one player near a Totem. Brand Buster at Warpriest never lets the same player take the Brand until everyone else has. Taking Turns at Golgoroth never lets the same player taunt until everyone else has. The Floor Is Lava at Daughters never lets a Torn player touch the ground. Overwhelming Power at Oryx requires detonating enough bombs to trigger Last Stand in the same round.

The 2026 sandbox has new perks, Artifact mods, and subclass tools, but King's Fall still rewards the same jobs: add clear, debuff, burst damage, and sustained damage.

Class Recommended subclasses
Hunter Nightstalker, Revenant
Warlock Shadebinder, Dawnblade
Titan Sunbreaker, Sentinel

Hunters can keep the team safe with Nightstalker invisibility and debuff bosses with Shadowshot. Revenant with Renewal Grasps is a strong survival pick on Master. Warlocks can lock down adds with Shadebinder turrets or support with Well of Radiance. Titans can use Sunbreaker for Restoration and Throwing Hammer loops, or Sentinel for Ward of Dawn and Void Overshields.

For weapons, Divinity remains a premier 30 percent debuff for Warpriest, Golgoroth, and Oryx. Linear Fusion Rifles are the sustained damage answer for Oryx and Golgoroth. Rocket Launchers with Gjallarhorn are excellent burst for Warpriest. Trinity Ghoul and Salvager's Salvo handle add clear without costing an Exotic slot. Thoughtless, Izanagi's Burden, and Arbalest are strong kinetic options depending on the team's needs.

Hidden Chests and Deepsight

King's Fall has three hidden chests and a guaranteed Deepsight chest. The Deepsight chest uses nine Hive symbols scattered across the Dreadnaught. Three symbols are shown under the exit to the opening section. Activating the correct three spawns the chest. The symbols are placed before or after encounters, including the pendulum jump, Totems, Warpriest, Golgoroth's Maze, the thrusting wall puzzle, and the Daughters arena.

Hidden Chest #1 is in the ship jumping puzzle. From the second docked Hive ship, look for a hole in the left wall. Jump onto the spikey platform before the ship docks and follow the narrow path.

Hidden Chest #2 is in Golgoroth's Maze. Stand on the five plates in this order: bottom right, top left, bottom left, middle left, top right. The chest appears near the center.

Hidden Chest #3 is in the thrusting wall puzzle. When a group of Taken Vandals is visible across the gap, pull out the Ghost to reveal hidden platforms. Follow them, scan for more when stuck, climb a pillar, and enter the hole in the wall.

Final Thoughts

King's Fall in 2026 is still a raid about rhythm. Brands move, Torn players run, taunters swap, and Oryx waits. The sandbox may change, but the Taken King does not care about patch notes. A fireteam that communicates will clear it. A fireteam that panics will hear the wipe sound... and that sound never gets old.
